Abdominal Pain
Abdominal pain should be checked by a doctor if it persists and increases in intensity because it could be appendicitis or another condition that needs to be properly diagnosed. Upper Abdominal
Area Apply the following oil over the painful area in a clockwise direction:
Peppermint 3 drops
Clove 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Lower Abdominal
Apply the following oil over the painful area in a clockwise direction:
Thyme 2 drops
Eucalyptus 3 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Upper Abrasions
Clean the area well with 5 drops of lavender diluted in a bowl of warm water.
Apply one neat drop of lavender and leave to heal. Abscesses
Make a compress using the following oils and apply it to the area of swelling twice a day:
Lavender 2 drops
Tea Tree 2 drops
Chamomile 3 drops
Dental Abscess
Put 1 drop of chamomile on a cotton ball and apply
directly to the abscess. Also rub over the jaw and cheek area with the following oil:
Lavender 3 drops
Tea Tree 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Athlete's Foot
Make up a mixture of 2 drops of tea tree and 1 drop of lavender, dip a cotton-wool ball into it and smear it between the toes and around the nails. Also make up the following massage oil and rub it over the feet, paying special attention to the toes:
Tea Tree 5 drops
Lemon 1 drop
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Black Eyes
Dilute 1 drop of geranium and 1 drop of chamomile in 2 teaspoons witch hazel and blend together well. Now add this to 1 tablespoon ice-cold water, mix well, and soak some cotton-wool pads in it. Close your eye and apply a pad to the eyelid and surrounding area.
Bleeding
For bleeding from an open wound apply compress to which you have added the following:
Geranium 1 drop
Lemon 1 drop
Chamomile 1 drop
Nose Bleed
Lie flat on your back, pinch the nostrils, then inhale the following oils from a tissue:
Lemon 3 drops
Lavender 1 drop
Bleeding Gums
Make up the following mixture, add it to a tumbler of warm water, and use as a mouthwash. Do not swallow.
Lemon 2 drops
Lavender 1 drop
Eucalyptus 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon brandy
Bruises
Make up two bowls of water, one hot and one cold, and add the following to both:
Lavender 2 drops
Rosemary 3 drops
Geranium 1 drop
Soak a washcloth in each bowl and apply them alternately to the bruised and surrounding area. Then apply a small amount of the following oil:
Geranium 2 drops
Rosemary 2 drops
Lavender 1 drop
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Chapped Lips
Apply to the lips:
Chamomile 2 drops
Geranium 2 drops
Mixed well with 2 teaspoons aloe Vera gel.
Cold Sores
Put 1 drop of geranium oil on a cotton ball and apply it directly to the sore, if possible as soon as it is suspected. Repeat every day. Also, massage the whole of the body including the face and neck with the following:
Geranium 10 drops
Lavender 10 drops
Thyme 2 drops
Lemon 8 drops
Diluted in 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Common Colds
Use the following oils in a hot bath. Lie back and inhale deeply:
Thyme 2 drops
Tea Tree 2 drops
Eucalyptus 1 drop
Lemon 3 drops
For the steam inhalation method, use one drop each of the following:
thyme, tea tree, lavender, and clove.
Carry with you a tissue on which you have placed one drop each of red thyme, peppermint, eucalyptus, and clove, and inhale deeply whenever possible.
Massage around the chest, neck, and sinus area (forehead, nose, and cheekbones) with the following:
Lemon 1 drop
Eucalyptus 2 drops
Rosemary 3 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
Constipation
Massage in a clockwise direction over the lower abdomen three times a day with the following:
Rosemary 15 drops
Lemon 10 drops
Peppermint 5 drops
Diluted in 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Constipation can have underlying causes - check dietary habits.
Dry Cough
Mix 2 drops of eucalyptus and 2 drops of lemon oil with 2 tablespoons honey. Take 1 teaspoon of this and dilute in a wine glass of warm water. Sip it slowly.
Massage over the back and chest with:
Eucalyptus 3 drops
Thyme 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
Fro the steam inhalation method use 3 drops of lavender.
Cough with Mucus- Follow the treatment outlined above except for the drink. For this mix the following essential oils into the tablespoon of honey:
Eucalyptus 2 drops
Thyme 1 drop
Tea Tree 1 drop
Blend together and use 1 drop only
Cuts and Wounds
Bathe the area with warm water to which you have added the following:
Lavender 5 drops
Tea Tree 2 drops
To each 2 cups water
Put 3 drops of lavender on a piece of gauze and place it over the cut. Renew it twice a day and expose the cut or wound to air on the third day if possible.
Frostbite
Massage up to 5 drops of neat geranium into the affected area. Alternatively, use lavender. When the person is warm, massage the area with:
Geranium 4 drops
Clove 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
Halitosis
The problem of bad breath is often caused by factors other than breath itself. These are the oils that help:
Digestive Problems
Peppermint 2 drops
Lemon 2 drops
Gum Disease
Tea Tree 2 drops
Thyme 2 drops
General
Lavender 4 drops
Dilute the 4 drops of essential oil in 1 teaspoon of brandy and then put in a tumbler of warm water and use as a mouthwash. Do not swallow
Hay Fever
Put 1 drop each of chamomile and lemon essential oils onto a tissue and inhale. Add the following combination to baths:
Chamomile 2 drops
Lemon 2 drops
Lavender 1 drop
Massage the neck, chest, and back with:
Chamomile 2 drops
Geranium 1 drop
Lemon 1 drop
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Because hay fever affects people in different ways, treatment is often a case of trial and error. Experiment with the essential oils.
Headaches
General Headaches, For no Apparent Reason - Massage around the temples and the base of the skull, along the hair line, with 1 neat drop of the following combination of oils and blend with 1 drop of vegetable oil:
Lavender 3 drops
Peppermint 1 drop
Or use lavender or peppermint on their own.
Nervous Headache- Follow the treatment as for General Headaches but use these essential oils:
Lavender 3 drops
Chamomile 1 drop
Combine and use 1 drop
Also massage over the solar plexus (upper abdomen) in a clockwise direction using the following:
Geranium 1 drop
Lemon 2 drops
Lavender 3 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Heartburn
Add 1 drop of peppermint to a teaspoon of honey and dissolve in a cup of warm water; sip slowly. Also rub the upper abdominal area with the following:
Eucalyptus 2 drops
Peppermint 3 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
Hiccups
Put 1 drop of chamomile oil in a brown paper bag and hold it over your nose and mouth. Breathe in deeply and slowly through your nose.
Influenza
There are many identified and unidentified viruses which are given the name "flu." Viral attacks that involve fever, tiredness, coughs, colds, muscular pain, and exhaustion are all likely to be given this label.
Treatment needs to be quick and is aimed at raising immunity levels as well as combating the virus. Depending on the severity of the attack it may also be wise to consult your Doctor.
If you are shivery and cold and feel that you have the onset of something more, take a warm bath to which the following oils have been added:
Tea Tree 5 drops
Lavender 2 drops
Thyme 2 drops
Then massage your whole body with the following oil:
Tea Tree 2 drops
Eucalyptus 3 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
And go to bed. Bedrooms should be sprayed with thyme and lavender. Drink plenty, and make a special drink by using 1 drop of the following blend of oils, adding it to a teaspoon of honey and diluting it in a cup of hot water.
Clove 1 drop
Lavender 2 drops
Combine and use 1 drop per drink.
Sip the drink slowly.
Insomnia
Massage the following oils into the body before having an essential oil bath.
Valerain, Marjoram, Chamomile, Roman, Clary-sage, Sandalwood and Lemon.
Make a blend using a total of 30 drops from the list above to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. For individual massages use 5 drops of essential oil to a teaspoon of vegetable oil or 10 drops or two teaspoons. Massage over the whole og the body, including the shoulders and neck. You can do this while the bathe is running. Put 4 drops of your chosen essential oil or oils in the bath, which should be neither too hot nor too cold. Get in and just lie there and drift or, if you have the energy, read a book. Then go to bed. Repeat nightly, as often as needed. Laryngitis/Sore Throats
Use steam inhalations with the following oils added:
Chamomile 2 drops
Lavender 3 drops
Thyme 1 drop
Massage all over the neck area and behind the ears with the following:
Chamomile 5 drops
Thyme 1 drop
Lemon 2 drops
Diluted in 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
To reduce the soreness, make a drink by adding 2 drops of lemon and 1 drop of lavender to 2 teaspoons of honey and mixing it into a wineglassful of rosewater which has been boiled.
Sinusitis
Use the following combination of oils in the steam inhalation methon:
Rosemary 3 drops
Thyme 1 drop
Peppermint 1 drop
Make a blend using the following proportions and put 1 drop on a tissue and inhale.
Rosemary 2 drops
Geranium 1 drop
Eucalyptus 1 drop
Blend the oils below in these proportions. Use 5 drops only in each massage. Massage around the neck, behind and in front of the ears, over the cheekbone, the nose, and forehead.
Rosemary 5 drops
Geranium 5 drops
Eucalyptus 2 drops
Peppermint 3 drops
Blend together and use 5 drops per teaspoon vegetable oil.
Sties
First prepare the liquid needed for a hot compress. Boil 2 teaspoons rosewater and add to it 1 drop chamomile essential oil. Strain this liquid through a paper coffee filter and leave to cool slightly.
Now put 1 neat drop of lavender on a cotton ball and smear it on the cheekbone, under the sty - keeping the eye well closed.
Soak a cotton - wool pad in the rosewater and chamomile liquid and put it on your closed eyelid. Leave until cool. Repeat the whole procedure twice a day for three days.
